Tanikka L. Mason, LCSW, MSW

Tanikka Mason is a native of New Haven, Connecticut. It was there that she learned the value of education and helping others to excel. Tanikka attended New Haven Public Schools where she was introduced to many caring teachers and administrators that instilled in her that she could achieve her dream of attending and completing college. Tanikka would later leave Connecticut in pursuit of higher education.

Tanikka Mason matriculated at The Virginia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree with Cum Laude distinction in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Sociology in 2004. She continued her education and obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Today, Tanikka Mason has obtained the ultimate credential in her field, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

While attending The Virginia State University (VSU), Tanikka met the love of her life, Damion Mason, who is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity, Inc. They’ve been together for more than 20 years. They continue to enjoy marital bliss for more than 12 years.

The Masons have also been so fortunate as entrepreneurs. Second Chances Comprehensive Services, with multiple offices within 3 regions in the state of Virginia, was established and maintained by Mr. and Mrs. Mason for 12 years before it was acquired in 2020. They’ve taken all of their experience within the mental health field and more recently founded First Choice Community Counseling. Tanikka currently presides as the Chief Clinical Officer and specializes in outpatient therapy services.

Tanikka Mason is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She serves effortlessly and is extremely committed to helping other people achieve their goals and dreams. She exemplifies what a finer woman is. She demonstrates what a finer woman does. Whether its a Wigs for Awareness Initiative, volunteering with elders at Brighter Living Assisted Living facility, service is her middle name. Tanikka was awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of outstanding dedication and service to the VSU Social Work Field of Education Program. Tanikka is a Zeta on Fire for Social Action.

Damion Mason, BS

Damion Mason is a native of Kingston, Jamaica. It was there that he learned the value of uplifting his community while discovering his passion in life, helping others to achieve their dreams. Damion would later leave Jamaica in pursuit of higher education.

Damion Mason matriculated at The Virginia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a Minor in Business Management. Soon after obtaining his degree, Damion realized that his life purpose would include much more than crunching numbers.

While attending The Virginia State University (VSU), Damion met the love of his life, Tanikka Mason, who is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. They’ve been together for more than 20 years. They continue to enjoy marital bliss for more than 12 years.

Damion currently presides as the Chief Executive Officer and specializes in growth opportunities and community development.

Damion Mason is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He is committed to social justice issues to improve the lives of the often underserved, poverty-stricken communities. Damion takes an out of the box approach when it comes to helping in the mental health field. If you look closely, Damion can typically be found at your local food pantry volunteering time to help the less fortunate. He has sponsored local basketball teams with jerseys and transportation to away games when the need presented itself.

Damion has partnered with local school counselors to create a positive behavioral supports system to reduce out of school suspensions for the students labeled with behavioral issues. Damion has provided free pizza to local community workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Damion exemplifies what success looks like.

Damion is a part of associations within the mental health field to continue building on his knowledge and skill set to improve the lives of others.
